Happy New Year

It’s time to raise your glass and toast to big goals and aspirations for the new year. Don’t say you haven’t created these goals or “resolutions” for yourself because deep down we all crave a new year, a blank slate, and a place to start over. Good thing there is always next year (or next month) to start over on your resolutions that may have already fizzled out.

Some of you like to reminisce on the year that passed, thinking of the things you have accomplished and the challenging things the past year brought with it. Some of you may want to forget it all together.

Either way, 2023 is here and Carpenter Marty Transportation’s employees are ready for it!

Big things happened in our lives over the past year.

For Kristin, our Business Development Manager and Neal, one of our Traffic Group managers, the last few months of 2022 were full of excitement as they welcomed the addition of baby Sloane to their family. Kristin said, “Sloane was the best thing to come out of 2022! I really look forward to all of the adventures that 2023 brings for her and her growth.” Neal on the other hand is just ready for some sleep.

We all took a trip or two for some R & R or a family vacation with the kiddos. Dustin, a Roadway Engineer in our Cincinnati office, and his wife took their children on their first ever beach vacation! Dustin said, “My wife and I aren’t big beach-goers, but taking the kids to the beach for the first time and being able to enjoy the sand and water with them was an amazing memory that will last forever.” He’s expecting to be pretty busy in 2023 – at work in expanding the Cincinnati office and at home navigating raising 3 kids and the joys of being a big part in helping them grow and learn.

Some of us created New Year’s resolutions.

Ben, a Bridge Engineer in our Columbus office, has made it a goal to drink less pop. Ben joked, “I have tried before and failed. I will probably fail again, but the plan is to stick with it!” This goal has come with the fact that he is preparing to run a marathon this year. He previously ran the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati and has signed up to run the Athens marathon in April with two of his sons, Joe and Nate.

Chris, a member of our Traffic Group, recently graduated from Ohio University and moved to Columbus. His New Year’s resolution is to try new things – specifically, all the food and fun that Columbus has to offer. Chris plans to stop by North Market, check out some local escape rooms, and also do a brewery tour!

We are all taking the knowledge we gained into 2023.

Lucas, our Project Inspector, says that over the past few years, and especially after COVID, he doesn’t want to take the relationships he has with people for granted. “I fell out of communication with a few people, and this year I plan to reconnect with them and strengthen some of my friendships.”

Carpenter Marty Transportation’s Office Coordinator, Alaina, also looked back on 2022 with some insight for herself and others in the new year. “I learned that a lot of times you can’t please everyone, no matter how hard you try, so it’s better to focus on yourself and do what makes you the happiest!”

We aren’t even two weeks into the new year yet, so get back to all those resolutions and make it a year to remember. Whatever this new year brings you, we hope it’s something great!
