As we step into a brand-new year, the possibilities ahead feel as expansive as the open roads we design and build. January symbolizes not only the turning of the calendar, but also a time to reflect on our achievements, set ambitious goals, and dream big for the future. In civil engineering, every project begins with a blueprint—a vision of what could be—and the start of a new year is no different. It’s a chance to sketch out our aspirations, lay the foundation for success, and pave the way for personal and professional growth.
To inspire you in your own goal-setting, some of our team members at Carpenter Marty Transportation are excited to share their New Year’s resolutions. We hope their commitments spark motivation and remind you that each resolution, like every project, starts with a single step forward.
Tony, our Roadway Department Manager in Columbus, has a New Year’s resolution tied to his professional development: he plans to complete the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Project Management Training Program. Jake and Leiana, both preparing to become licensed Professional Engineers (PEs) this year, are also focused on advancing their careers.
Some of our employees have set fun and inspiring lifestyle goals, too! Bryce, a Roadway Engineer in our Columbus office, is training to run the Denver Marathon this May—a challenging and exciting commitment. Tea, our Marketing Coordinator, is fulfilling one of her long-standing dreams: traveling to Japan! She’s already booked her trip and will be exploring the Land of the Rising Sun this spring.
Alaina, our Office Coordinator in Columbus, has resolved to improve her posture this year—a goal many of us can relate to. Meanwhile, Brad, our Director of Southwest Operations, has made a resolution that many parents try to set (but don’t always stick to): giving his kids less money this year!
As we look ahead to 2025, it’s clear that our team is ready to tackle both professional and personal goals with energy and enthusiasm. Just like in civil engineering, every step forward—big or small—helps build something meaningful. Whether your goals are to improve your skills, prioritize your health, or simply have a little fun, we encourage you to take that first step. Here’s to a year filled with growth, inspiration, and success for all!
