Carpenter Marty Transportation provided survey, engineering, and right-of-way plan development for the improvement of Ninemile Tobasco Road for the Clermont County Transportation Improvement District. The project realigned approximately 900’ of this 2-lane major collector to eliminate a hazardous ‘S’ curve. The project included replacement of an existing 52’ two-span non-composite prestressed box beam bridge with a 90’ single span composite prestressed box beam bridge over Ninemile Creek. The existing ‘S’ curve alignment was well-below deficient, not meeting horizontal curve or sight distance design standards for the posted speed limit of 35mph. Adding to the deficiency, the bridge over Ninemile Creek is in the middle of the ‘S’ curve and a private drive at the north end of the bridge, serving several residents, had poor sight distance compounding the safety issue. Carpenter Marty Transportation’s design realigned the roadway to meet 40 mph design speed and improved sight distance along Ninemile Tobasco Road.
