As the calendar turns the page to a new year, it is an opportune moment for reflection and renewal. Every January offers a fresh canvas—a chance to embrace new beginnings, set aspirations, and commit to self-improvement. Whether it is aiming for personal growth, adopting healthier habits, pursuing passions, or achieving career milestones, the start of a new year often ignites a spark of motivation within us to embark on a journey of positive change.
A few Carpenter Marty Transportation employees would like to share their New Year resolutions with you!
Patrick, one of our Roadway Engineers in West Virginia, created a personal growth goal to achieve this new year. “I want to work on better managing my time between home, work, and teaching- this way I will not be up against a deadline to get things completed.” Patrick also mentioned he wants to learn how to cook Cajun/Creole cuisine!
One of our Roadway Engineers in our Columbus office, Arafat, set a short and not- so -sweet goal… she has decided to leave sugar in 2023! Xavier, another Roadway Engineer in our Columbus office, looked back on 2023 with some insight for himself. “I want to be able to free myself of distractions so I can give 110% to what is most important to me.” Another member of our Columbus office, Shane, who is our Operations Manager, has made a resolution to travel more as well as read more books this year.
Colleen, a member of our Roadway Group in our Cincinnati office, was ambitious and made a couple of different goals for herself. One of her resolutions was to become more financially responsible with budgeting and saving for a house. Another was to fold clothes and put them away within a day of washing them as well as start trying to live a healthier lifestyle. A few fun resolutions Colleen has created are she wants to complete the restaurant challenge (try a new restaurant every two weeks but the names must go in alphabetical order starting with A and ending with Z) and she also would like to travel to 3 countries and 2 new states/cities that she has never been to before. “I want to travel as much as I possibly can!”
Jessica, a Bridge Engineer in our Columbus office, “My husband and I are both religious and we had our first child last year so this year we made it our goal to be good role models and teach her to focus on time with God, time with family, and the importance of working hard but also finding balance. My goals for CM (Carpenter Marty) are to focus on growth, not beat myself up over the stuff I do not know while I am trying to learn, learn from every mistake and every project, and focus on the task at hand to be as efficient as possible before moving on or stressing the next thing.”
As we are still in the early days of the new year, it is a perfect opportunity to revisit those resolutions and turn this year into a memorable one. Whatever the upcoming months hold for you, our wish is for something truly extraordinary to unfold!
