SFC Terrance N Gentry Memorial Bridge 6 Year Inspection

The SFC Terrance N Gentry Memorial Bridges are twin structures that run north and south carrying WV Route 10 over the Guyandotte River and CSX Railroad. The dual bridges consist of four welded steel plate girders each and two six span continuous plate girders with an overall length of approximately 2,216’. The structures are 12 spans – 150′ – 205′ – 205′ – 205 – 205 – 160′ – 160′ – 190′ – 240′ – 190′ – 150′ – 150′ with reinforced concrete deck. The structures cross the Guyandotte River near Man, West Virginia. Carpenter Marty Transportation performed in-depth routine hands-on and physical condition inspections of the structures that are operated and maintained by the WVDOH. Carpenter Marty Transportation used conventional access techniques to gain access to all elements of the structure. The equipment used included an under-bridge inspection unit, a 135’ aerial lift, and skyclimber basket.  Single lane road closures were needed to access the underside of the structure. The final in-depth routine inspection was completed in four days and required six NBIS certified bridge inspectors.
