Access Control

The Fireproof Building was originally constructed in 1909 on High Street in the Short North as a fireproof warehouse to protect personal possessions. It is now a residential building with retail on the ground floor. There are no locations more challenging for access than the High Street corridor within the Short North.  Access is very strictly controlled and this redevelopment was no exception. Negotiation was successful in obtaining full access for the building onto 2nd Avenue even though the location did not meet City of Columbus spacing standards and on-street parking would be lost. Full access to Mt. Pleasant Avenue was also obtained.
