Carpenter Marty Transportation promotes education, engineering scholarships, internships, and job shadows for advancement within the engineering industry.
Let’s face it, college is expensive. There are many opportunities to cut out-of-pocket costs associated with continuing your education though. Within the engineering industry, there are multiple professional organizations that understand the obstacle standing between you and a college degree. That’s why the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio, Association of Bridge Design and Construction (ABCD) Northeast Ohio/Southwest Ohio/Central Ohio chapters, Ohio Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Columbus, and Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Columbus have rallied resources to provide engineering scholarships and scholarships for other majors in the architecture/engineering/construction (A/E/C) industry. Many professional organizations also include marketing majors.
Some of these scholarship deadlines are due in the next few weeks, so don’t wait to apply!
The requirements and applications can vary from one organization to another. Reviewing the instructions and application before completing it can save you time. To increase your chances of being awarded scholarships, avoid these common scholarship application mistakes. Though only five organizations are listed in this blog, there may be other local, state, or national organizations offering scholarships. Keep in mind that many organizations have more than one scholarship to award.
Not sure if engineering is a good fit for you? There are multiple engineering disciplines and finding the right one for you is key. It may be beneficial to sit with an engineer for a day to understand what it’s like to work in your anticipated career. Many companies, like Carpenter Marty Transportation, will allow you to further explore the profession through an internship or job shadow opportunity. We enjoy helping individuals narrow their focus and learn more about transportation engineering. Check out what our 2019 interns had to say about their experience in our blog.
