- Landgraff Bridge Rehabilitation

Carpenter Marty Transportation performed the design, preparation of contract plans, and related documents for rehabilitation of the existing Landgraff Bridge. The bridge carries US 52 over Elkhorn Creek in McDowell County. The project site is located 0.36 miles west of CR 52/13. The existing structure was analyzed for the proposed loading configuration and to obtain loads for bearing design. The existing abutments were also analyzed for conversion to semi-integral. The rehabilitation includes concrete overlay, converting the abutments to semi-integral, and providing new approach slabs. Carpenter Marty Transportation completed the hydraulic analysis of the existing stream conditions to determine effects of removing aggradation. Elkhorn Creek is in a FEMA Zone AE. One lane of traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge by staged construction. Carpenter Marty Transportation performed all bridge, roadway, and maintenance of traffic design services for this project.
