Benefit-Cost Analysis
Hamilton Quarter is a development of over 300 acres of undeveloped land. Most of the area is not yet served by roadways. The mixed-use nature led to the need to determine how many vehicle trips generated by the various land uses would be to another land use within the development and not to a location outside of the development (internal capture). With many land uses spread over 300+ acres, this was a very complex issue. Carpenter Marty Transportation completed the Traffic Operations Analysis Report to identify what transportation infrastructure would be needed to accommodate the proposed Hamilton Quarter Development. The analysis and report were required by the City of Columbus as part of the rezoning approval process. The project includes a proposed realignment of Dublin-Granville Road, the recently completed Hamilton Road “S-curve”, and other connector roads. Carpenter Marty Transportation was responsible for trip generation, traffic volume development, capacity analysis of signalized and non-signalized intersections, turn lane analysis and design, preliminary layouts of proposed roadway networks, roundabout analysis, interchange analysis, and report production. It was determined by ODOT that no interchange modification study or operations study for the SR 161 interchange with Hamilton Road would be required as part of this development and study, but Carpenter Marty Transportation was to provide additional information and analysis to supplement the study. Per request, Carpenter Marty Transportation completed HCS analysis, turn lane length calculations, and a sensitivity analysis of the interchange to provide additional guidance for ODOT. The proposed development and roadway construction are currently underway.
